Leslie Albert Knight was the third Anglican Bishop of Bunbury from 1938〔''New Bishop Of Bunbury'' The Times Tuesday, Oct 12, 1937; pg. 14; Issue 47813; col F〕 to 1950〔(Road named after him in South Bunbury )〕 Knight as born on 4 August 1890 and educated at Christchurch Boys' High School〔(Avondale Anglican Cemetery )〕 and the University of New Zealand;〔"Who was Who" 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 0-7136-3457-X.〕 and ordained in 1915〔Crockford's Clerical Directory1940-41 Oxford, OUP,1941〕 His first post was a curacy at Fendalton and then as a chaplain to the NZEF in France. When peace returned he was vicar of Leithfield then Kaiapoi. Next he was rector and chaplain of St Saviour’s Boys’ Orphanage, Timaru.
